Patricia (Patti) Scott is the Clinical Director for the Office of Primary Prevention at the Tennessee Department of Health where she brings clinical and public health experience to a team that includes experts in civic design, city planning, community assessment and evaluation, and wellness. They work across sectors that include state departments of transportation, parks, and education; local communities; and other entities to build a healthier, more livable Tennessee.
Dr. Scott has spent most of her career in public health, school health and pediatrics, serving as a pediatric nurse practitioner, school nurse and public health administrator. She also taught at Vanderbilt and University of Pennsylvania Schools of Nursing and is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.
Dr. Scott is one of 25 nurses from across the country to be selected as a Public Health Nurse Leader by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She just completed a two-year leadership development program designed to strengthen the capacity of senior public health nurses to improve population health, address social determinants of health, respond to emerging trends in health and health care, influence policy, and lead collaborations in their communities. Her project focused on developing nursing leaders to build a Culture of Health by integrating Culture of Health concepts into nursing education and Nurses on Boards training.
